Privately message the person you like and be patient/don’t have high expectations of getting a reply because there doesn’t seem to be a lot of activity on this website.

Personally I don’t like it when people send me a friend request with no message, so I’m inclined to say ‘don’t do that,’ but maybe other people don’t mind.
